These works address inhumane work conditions of workers in the garment industry, a global problem, which has existed throughout the centuries. Even now, in the 21st century, apparently, our world has not been able to solve this problem in a decent manner. On a regular basis we read about mistreated workers that are held behind barbed-wire fences, are watched by armed guards, do many unpaid hours of overtime and get penalized if they try to unionize.

The inhumane treatment of garment workers remains in stark contrast to the beauty of the garments produced and the "glitziness" of the fashion world.
